What does autumn taste like? | Cēsis Autumn Restaurant week

What does Autumn taste like? A hot bowl of cream soup next to the lake, when hands are getting cold, but the clay bowl warms them, like mushroom sauce, which can be made this good only by grandma or restaurants of Cēsis, and fresh out of the oven apple-lingonberry pie, which has made the house smell savoury sweet, as the apple garden next to it. The autumn tastes warm and cosy, just like the restaurant week we will give you from 21st - 27th of October!

On the fourth week of October for the fourth time in a row restaurants of Cēsis will gather everyone to explore new flavors in Cēsis Restaurant week, during which locals and city guests are invited to enjoy delightful and appetizing dishes for convenient price. This time gourmands are invited by 7 restaurants of Cēsis and surroundings - "Cafe2Locals""Go To Sushi Bar", "Hotel Cēsis", "Jāņoga", "Jonathan SPA Hotel", "H.E. Vanadziņš Ziemeļu restorānsand "Villa Santa".

During Restaurant week everyone will have unique opportunity to taste three course meal for a special price – 20,00 EUR. The menus will differ from the restaurant usual offers by bringing guest taste buds to the next level. Menus will highlight autumn berries, such as rowan, sea buckthorns, quinces, lingonberries, cranberries and plums.

Rich, tranquil and bitter but full of vitamins – that is autumn, same as our friends, cranberries, quinces and sea buckthorns that help us stay healthy during the chilly season. These berries will treat restaurant “Jāņoga” guests, where the chef will bring to the table a sea trout fillet with sea buckthorn-saffron sauce, carrots, caviar, cassava and star anise. However, “Cafe2Locals” will greet their guests with kohlrabi cream soup served with pulled duck, cranberry and dried tomato pesto, olive powder and seaweed. The newcomers “Go To Sushi bar” plan to treat everyone with Aki Tatchi maguro maki - sushi with chicken, Philadelphia cheese and crispy mozzarella cheese served with lingonberry sauce, however, “Jonathan SPA Hotel” restaurant has prepared stewed wild boar meat with rowan sauce, served with Jerusalem artichoke puree and roasted potaoes. “H.E. Vanadziņš Ziemeļu restorāns” has decided to use berries to prepare lingonberry foam which will be used to serve seared scallop with Traditional Latvian black pudding pure, lingonberry foam and glazed carrot sauce.

Wealthy autumn goods - mushrooms, nuts, rowan and pumpkins impatiently awaits gourmands in restaurant “Hotel Cēsis” to offer grilled pumpkin with chanterelles, nuts and quail eggs, but newcomers of Cēsis restaurant week “Jonathan SPA Hotel” will serve traditional Latvian autumn taste - baked ling fillet with barley porridge, hard cheese croquette and mushroom velouté sauce. Nevertheless "Villa Santa" is going to treat their guests with zandart fillet backed in herb butter and served with seasonal vegetables from local farm “Saimnieki”, spelled wheat grains and quince sauce, but "H.E. Vanadziņš Ziemeļu restorāns" will surprise with roasted roe deer in rowan marinade served with gnocchi, matured brown bulgur, stewed autumn roots and home rucola.

Warm cottage cheese donuts with pear cream and cranberries – this mouth watering dessert awaits “Jonathan SPA Hotel” restaurant guests. “Hotel Cēsis” will surprise sweet tooth with backed apple cream served with lingonberries, hemp and pine cone sauce. To delight their guests “Villa Santa” will serve sea buckhorn cheese cake with garden berry and rowan sauce. A pleasure to taste buds – chokeberry pavlova with autumn raspberry sauce, caramel cookie and foamed autumn berry cottage cheese awaits at “H.E. Vanadziņš Ziemeļu restorāns”.

Restaurants have thought about vegetarians as well. “Cafe2Locals” prepared arancini stuffed with eggplant caponata, served with mozzarella cheese, tomatoes, cranberry and basil sauce and Parmesan chips, but restaurant “Jāņoga” will awake new tastes with semolina porridge served with hard cheese, sweet onion- quince jam, mushrooms,  horseradish and spelled wheat. "Villa Santa" guests will have the opportunity to taste home made noodles from “Siera ražotne” (cheese factory) of Rauna, which will be served with leek, celery, bell pepper, carrots, autumn mushrooms and chokeberry sauce, but "H.E. Vanadziņš Ziemeļu restorāns" has prepared a whole menu for vegetarians, where the main dish is nut pumpkin glazed in malt, shelled oats, foamed honey and sweet onion-apple marmalade. Both newcomers of Restaurant week also have thought about everyone and “Jonathan SPA Hotel” restaurant guests will be treated with pearl grain risotto with oven backed pumpkin and stracciatella cheese, but "Go To Sushi bar" with Aki Tatchi avocado maki - sushi with avocado, Philadelphia and crispy mozzarella cheese served with lingonberry sauce. “Jāņoga” and “H.E. Vanadziņš Ziemeļu restorāns” chefs has prepared special drink menu which matches the special Autumn restaurant week's offer.
