Gauja National Park and Cēsis is being popularized in Germany

With the participation in international exhibition “ITB 2017” in Berlin, Germany, ended tourism fair season where Gauja National park (GNP), including Cēsis, was represented in Latvian national stand.

Exhibition “ITB 2017” took place in Berlin, Germany, from 7th till 12th of March, and it is the biggest tourism fairs in the Europe. This year the exhibition was attended by 206 thousand visitors. They had a chance to recieve information and materials from 10 thousand participants from 187 countries.

Travelers from Germany in terms of number of visitors in GNP enclosed in the top three, so participation in international tourism fairs in Germany is important to promote the legendary Gauja valley, the diverse nature tourism opportunities, cultural and historical heritage over the territory of the park.

This year in GNP is unique with the possibility to put gastronomy in a very special place, because of being part of the Rīga-Gauja Gastronomy region that represents European gastronomy region activities and concept “Wild at Palate”. It was possible to recieve a gastronomy year event plan during exhibition.

Municipalieties in GNP – Cēsis, Sigulda, Valmiera, Līgatne, Amata, Pārgauja, Kocēni, Priekuļi and Inčukalns since year 2012 are implementing strategy by promoting GNP as a united tourism destination.

Participation in tourism exhibitions and fairs is organized with the support of Investment and Development Agency of Latvia (LIAA) and European Regional Development Fund.
