On Saturday, July 21st, from 11:00 to 19:00 in the Cesis Castle Garden the event "The Historic Hanseatic Market" will take place for the second time. Both adults and children will have the opportunity to go back in the period when Cesis was a member of the Hanseatic League and to participate in activities of medieval people.

The Historic Hanseatic Market will allow you to enter the Middle Ages. Every visitor will be able to meet the medieval people, to participate and explore the traditions of that time, watch medieval demonstrations, enjoy medieval food and entertainment opportunities. Also, it will be possible to purchase craftsmanship and home-made items in the Hanseatic market. This year's event will bring together more than 40 medieval merchants. They will offer their goods at the best price.

You will witness the demonstrations of medieval skills which was essential for medieval people. It will be possible to meet the master of the plant fiber, as well as explore the coloring of the yarn with plants. The dishes will be cooked with a special technique – fondling with a silver spoon. Visitors will be also able to watch the one needle knitting, making knives, swords, guilty and brooches.

The Historic Hanseatic Market would be not conceivable without music, dances and all kind of tricks. Therefore, all day long visitors of the event will be entertained by the ancient dance group "Ballare", the old music ensemble "Ludus", medieval musicians from St. Petersburg “Petit Trianon” and the children's folklore ensemble from Lithuania “Bitula”. The show "Turaidas Roze" and the fire show “Fire Spirit" will close the event.  The organizers of the event invite all visitors to actively participate in all the activities, thus gaining new skills and knowledge about Cēsis and the history of the Hanseatic League. Entrance to the event is free.

Event is supported by project “Hanseatic Approach to New Sustainable Alliances”. The aim of the project is to revitalize the historical heritage of the Hanseatic League and it is supported by the Central Baltic program 2014-2020.
