6 great activities with children

Come to Cēsis Municipality, and bring your entire family! It will be an interesting experience not only for adults, but also for children. Below is a guide of what Cēsis Municipality offers to families with children.

Children as well as adults will enjoy the Rakši Camel Park. You will find the Rakši recreation facility only an hour away from Riga, 6 km before the romantic streets of the old town of Cēsis, in the old valley of Gauja National Park. Surrounded by a beautiful forest is a cosy camel park with a hotel, cafe, amusement park and more than 100 llamas, alpacas and camels, as well as ostriches, donkeys, rabbits and others.

With children, you should definitely go to the net amusement park in Līgatne. Go on adventures in the world of trees! Enjoy a unique feeling of freedom and fun activities for all ages. ​It is the first and only net amusement park in Latvia that is located 4–7 m above ground. You can also enjoy a delicious meal with your children in the Zeit Cafe nearby.

If you are in Līgatne with children, also visit the Līgatne nature trails. On the nature trails you will see animals of various wild species, and untouched natural landscapes; you will hear the voices of forests and meadows, you will see the Gauja and its old valley surrounded by beautiful ravines and rocks, you will find peace, and have an enjoyable time outdoors. Hiking trails are about 4–5 km long, with different degrees of difficulty (with soil and gravel surface, and wooden stair sections) in different terrain conditions.

Come with children to relax at the Chill-Up camping site in Vecpiebalga. It is located on the shores of Lake Alauksts. Lake Alauksts, the most beautiful lake in Vidzeme, offers wakeboard, hydrocycle, mountain bike rental, a natural hot tub and gazebo or terrace fun. You can also rent a holiday house that includes a sauna on the shore of Lake Alauksts.

Bring your children to go on a nice hike with huskies. You will travel on a sleigh pulled by Siberian huskies. Dodkepu.lv and Cecīļi Nature Trail in Ieriķi offer an exciting ~4 km or ~10 km hike/practice session with the energetic huskies.

Kids will also enjoy the deer garden, so go see the ‘Annas dzirnavas’ deer garden with them. There, you can visit the deer garden, look at the animals, feed them yourself, and take pictures with the deer. Booking your visit to the garden is required, by calling +371 29176917.
